Equality, Diversity & Inclusion at Holcim

We pride ourselves on being people first

We have more than 4000 colleagues that we work alongside who make us who we are today, and every one of us works in the knowledge that our business strives to make sure we have a support network to help us be comfortable in who we are when we are on site, in the office or at home.

Equality, diversity and inclusion is a key part of our employee experience, and our approach to having a diverse place to work allows us to celebrate differences. One of the many ways we do this is through our ED&I teams who aim to create inclusive working environments for all of our people to thrive. These teams are supported by our seven affinity networks who you can find out more about below.

Our affinity networks

High Viz LGBTQ+ Network

This network is open to members of the LGBTQ+ community and our allies. Our goal is to create a progressive and inclusive workplace where everyone feels comfortable being their authentic selves. We've built a strong community of allies and ambassadors, and we're committed to making our business a safe and welcoming environment for all LGBTQ+ employees.

Emergency Services, Veterans and Families Network

This network brings together current or former emergency service members, veterans, and military reservists, as well as their friends and families. We focus on supporting each other's wellbeing, volunteering in the wider community, and helping our Talent Acquisition team recruit members of the armed forces.

Abilities Network

The Abilities Network was formed to raise awareness and remove barriers related to disability, neurodiversity, and other impairments. We welcome those with and without impairments, as well as carers and allies. Our goal is to create a supportive and inclusive workplace where all colleagues can reach their full potential.

Women Empowered Network

The Women Empowered Network drives positive change, creating an environment where women can succeed and achieve their full potential. We provide a forum to share experiences and raise awareness of challenges women face. The network also champions role models and creates networking opportunities, working to ensure Holcim is a place where women can thrive.

Menopause Network

Our newest affinity network, the Menopause Network, works closely with the Women Empowered Network. We aim to support and educate colleagues on how menopause can affect a person’s work and personal life. We're creating a helpful and understanding environment for those experiencing it and their team members.

Diverse Communities Network

The Diverse Communities Network brings together colleagues to raise awareness of challenges faced by different ethnic communities and nationalities. We work to address barriers related to racial equality, challenge unconscious bias, and celebrate the diverse backgrounds of all our employees. This helps ensure everyone can be their authentic self.

Our Network Stories

After maternity leave, Harvir Padda faced the challenge of raising a son with complex health needs while stepping into a new role at Holcim. With the right support, she found the strength to thrive both at home and in her career. Her journey shows how resilience and care can shape a meaningful path forward.

As a young boy, Mustapha Nyass didn’t see himself represented in the construction industry. But he didn’t let this stop him from pursuing his dreams. From helping his mum build their house out of clay in The Gambia, to leading his team at Holcim to success every day, Mustapha’s story is one of grit, perseverance and belief.

From 20 years as a Gurkha to operating heavy machinery at Holcim’s Bardon Hill, Champa Thapa Magar’s journey is one of resilience and reinvention. The discipline and teamwork he carried from the army now guide his role in keeping colleagues safe and operations running smoothly. His story shows how purpose can be found in the most unexpected places.
