Product & Plant-Specific EPDs and Carbon Data for Cement, Readymix Concrete and More
Transparent, independently verified environmental product declarations and carbon calculations from Holcim UK — designed for accurate reporting, specification and sustainable construction.
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are standardised documents that provide comprehensive information about the environmental impact of a product. An EPD is a Type III Environmental Declaration in Compliance with ISO 14025. These declarations offer a holistic view of the product's life cycle, including the sourcing of raw materials, manufacturing processes, transportation, and eventual disposal. This transparent and data-rich approach empowers stakeholders in the construction industry to make informed decisions that align with sustainability goals.
Delivering high quality transparency
We recognise that today’s construction industry demands high-quality transparency. That’s why we provide product-specific and plant-specific Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) alongside robust carbon calculation tools for materials such as cement, concrete (ready-mix), aggregates, asphalt and mortars.
These verified datasets help specifiers, designers, contractors and sustainability teams to:
- Understand the full life-cycle environmental impact of materials, from raw-material sourcing through production and transport
- Make informed choices about material selection, project carbon footprint and whole-life performance
- Align their procurement with transparent, reliable data — rather than generic averages
Our EPD & Carbon Data Offering
Cement & Binders
Our UK cement plants now provide plant-specific EPDs for key cement products, enabling accurate cradle-to-gate data for use in specification and reporting. Using global frameworks such as ISO 14025/ISO 21930 and EN 15804, each declaration is independently verified and covers raw‐material supply, production and transport stages.
Where full publication is pending, we can offer third-party verified carbon calculations quickly via database tools.
Concrete / Ready-Mix Products
In a major step-change for the industry, our ready‐mix concrete business now offers product and project-specific EPDs in the London regions and in major cities including Leicester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester and Lancaster with a rolling rollout across our national network.
This means you can access data tied to the actual plant and mix being supplied to your project — not just regional averages.
Supporting your project's sustainability goals:
- Verified Plant-Specific EPDs: Available across our key metropolitan sites for our standard mixes, the low-carbon ECOPact range, and specialist solutions like Agilia and DYNAmax.
- National Coverage: Where plant-specific data is still in development, we provide robust regionalised data to ensure your modeling remains accurate.
- Carbon Reporting: Access to our "Your Carbon Report" tools, utilising verified data to support project-level modeling.
Aggregates, Asphalt & Other Materials
Our wider materials portfolio also supports carbon transparency: from aggregates through to asphalt. While full EPD publication may be subject to verification timelines, we can supply product- or project -specific carbon calculation data on request, helping you maintain consistent reporting across all material types.
why PRODUCT SPECIFIC & PLANT SPECIFIC DATA MATTERS
- Higher accuracy: Data directly tied to actual site, plant or mix eliminates variance from broad regional averages.
- Transparency & traceability: Independent verification builds stakeholder trust and supports regulatory or certification requirements.
- Better decision-making: Enables you to compare materials, mix options and suppliers on a consistent basis and embed carbon considerations early in design.
- Supports your sustainability targets: As procurement requirements tighten, you’ll have robust information to demonstrate due diligence, circular-economy credentials and whole-life thinking.
How it works
- Tell us your project details – product type, plant region, mix specification.
- We supply the relevant EPD or carbon calculation dataset – either published, verified EPD or calculation-based figure.
- You integrate into your design/reporting tools – e.g., whole-life carbon modelling, BIM, BREEAM or LEED submission.
- Support where needed – our technical team helps interpret data, answer specification queries or assist with tender documentation.

EPD FAQs
Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a standardised, Type III Environmental Declaration in Compliance with ISO 14025 that transparently reports the environmental performance or impact of a product throughout its life cycle. It's essentially a nutrition label for the environment, providing objective data to help users make informed decisions.
“Third-party verified" means that the entire declaration and the underlying data have been reviewed, checked, and approved by an independent, qualified expert before the EPD can be published. For Holcim UK that third-party is the globally recognised Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V (IBU) and BRE (Building Research Establishment) for our aggregates.
Sector EPD represents the average environmental performance of a specific sector. The EPD is done by gathering data from multiple companies within an industry to provide a verified benchmark for environmental impacts across the sector. The Minerals Product Association publishes sector EPDs for cement and ready-mix concrete that are based on environmental data collected from member companies. Holcim UK plant and product specific EPD give the exact environmental performances of their products to be more specific to your project. For maximum accuracy Holcim UK can supply specific EPDs that account for transport to your site.
EPDs contain a wealth of environmental performance information called indicators. These cover everything from Radioactive waste disposed to use of net freshwater.
The most commonly used one of these is the GWP-total which is equivalent to the embodied carbon or carbon footprint of the product. For any Holcim UK mix (proposed or supplied), we provide third-party verified Global Warming Potential (GWP) data compliant with EN 15804, offering the required embodied carbon information without the constraint of publishing an EPD for every plant.
Holcim UK's EPD for aggregates and cement can be downloaded from this page. If you require an EPD that you cannot find on this page, please email us at epd@holcim.co.uk
Product and project specific EDPs are available for Holcim UK plants in London, as well as Manchester, Liverpool, Lancaster, Birmingham and Leicester.
