Agricultural Lime
(Calcium Carbonate Soil Conditioner)

Restore Soil Balance, Enhance Crop Yield, and Support Sustainable Farming

Agricultural Lime, also known as garden lime or agricultural limestone, is a coarsely milled natural limestone product used to neutralize acidic soils. With its high calcium carbonate content, Agricultural Lime helps maintain optimum soil pH levels, improving nutrient availability and soil structure, ultimately leading to healthier plants and higher yields.

Holcim UK is a proud member of the Agricultural Lime Association (ALA), ensuring full compliance with UK Fertiliser Regulations.

Benefits

Neutralises Acidic Soil

Increases soil pH to optimal levels (typically pH 6.8–7.0), reducing soil acidity and restoring soil fertility.

Improves Nutrient Uptake

Enhances the availability of essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, improving fertiliser efficiency.

Supports Healthy Crop Development

Provides vital calcium and magnesium while improving soil structure and water penetration—key factors for strong root systems and increased crop yields.

Why use Agricultural Lime?

Over time, soil naturally becomes more acidic due to leaching, fertilisation, cropping, and pollution. This increased acidity reduces soil fertility, weakens root systems, and limits the effectiveness of fertilisers. Agricultural Lime plays a crucial role in reversing this trend by increasing the soil's pH level through its alkaline properties, typically derived from coarsely ground calcium carbonate (CaCO₃). Some blends may also include magnesium carbonate for added nutritional benefit.

The Neutralising Value (NV) of Agricultural Lime indicates its ability to reduce soil acidity, measured as a percentage of calcium oxide equivalent. The higher the NV, the more effective the lime is at correcting soil pH.

To ensure maximum benefit, it's essential to test soil before application and follow tailored liming recommendations. Over-liming can cause micronutrient deficiencies, especially in sandy or already alkaline soils.

Whether you're farming, landscaping, or managing pastureland, Agricultural Lime is a smart investment in your soil's health and your crop's productivity. Backed by quality assurance and compliant with ALA and Fertiliser Regulations, our product delivers reliable, long-lasting results.
