AIRIUM®
Voidfill Lightweight Insulating Foam

Holcim UK’s Self-Leveling, Cost-Efficient Ground Stabilisation Material

Holcim UK’s AIRIUM® Voidfill is a meticulously engineered, cost-efficient, and versatile material designed for void filling and ground stabilisation. This advanced, lightweight solution is offered in a range of densities and strengths and is ideal for projects requiring backfilling capabilities beyond traditional materials, particularly due to its self-leveling characteristics which eliminate the need for compaction in inaccessible areas. It is manufactured to Holcim UK’s stringent quality protocols.

Custom Performance

Offered in a wide range of densities (500 - 2000 kg/m³) and strengths (0.5 - 12 MPa) tailored to specific project needs.

Why AIRIUM® Voidfill?

Airium Voidfill is engineered using a mix composition of Portland Cement/GGBS, fine aggregate, crushed rock fines, water, and additives to achieve its low density and high performance. The material's self-leveling property and high flow characteristics make it perfect for filling inaccessible or complex voids, ensuring full contact and homogeneous density without the need for intensive compaction. This not only increases structural support but also significantly reduces the risk of future ground settlement.

Holcim UK maintains rigorous quality protocols for Airium products and offers carbon calculations for projects, emphasising its commitment to sustainability and meeting diverse performance requirements. Its quick initial hardening time of 8-24 hours allows site teams to move rapidly to the next phase of work.

Applications
  • Ground Stabilisation: Used to fill natural or man-made voids beneath existing structures to prevent settlement.
  • Infrastructure Backfill: Ideal for filling and stabilising voids around pipelines, service ducts, shafts, and culverts.
  • Trench and Tunnel Filling: Efficiently fills redundant sewers, tunnels, and tank voids, providing secure, lasting support.
  • Embankments & Retaining Walls: Used for backfill behind retaining walls and in embankment stabilisation to reduce lateral pressure compared to traditional fill.
